Les Izmor

Les Izmor's debut CD

Pulled off the highway of increasingly mainstream collaborative pop music, aka guitar-driven rock, we find ourselves squarely in the trucks-only parking space on the roadside rest-stop known as the solo project.

Records made up of music formed entirely in the mind of a single individual, leaving nothing to the imagination, meaning nothing to the casual observer, yet there are occasional glimpses of sanity.

Following the muddy tracks one might trip over a hook that was placed there, lazily, without any such intent and fall mind-first into a playground for dilettantes only to land senselessly against something that on a clear night sounds surprisingly similar to popular music.

It's unclear whether or not, or for how long this solo project period will last. There's clearly material yet to be written that will be best suited to this kind of environment. So chances are that things will change even as they stay the same, as is always the case. The important thing is therefore to check in occasionally, see what's happening, and see if any of the titles are endearing or if any of the tunes are enduring.
