Rick Sanford

Produced by Kramer

Overlooked by the myopic, hidden behind the outlandish, patiently waiting for the light to change, wearing his heart so far out on his sleeve that he's gotten blood on the cuffs, reared by popular radio fare and intrigued by classicist pretension, he nonetheless has managed to fall into the void between them.

First seen wielding a Vox Continental Organ, later a Thinline Tele, and later still invading the personal space of those in the front row with a trombone, he has, can and will again wrestle with the popular song form and populate any given 2-3 minutes with a sound unlike most.

Harmonically diverse and lyrically verbose, he produces a varietal noise, which given a broad enough context, after awhile will seduce any fan of classic pop.

Hearsay / Heresy:

I thought for sure that I would hate this CD with a passion. I don't know why but I thought I would. I was wrong. While I don't like Robyn Hitchcock too much, this reminds me of him (again- Why do I like it then?). Excellent, clear lyrics, and great music.

Married Punks

Rick Sanford writes quirky, catchy songs full of clever and funny lyrics.

Oculus Magazine

... Sanford throws enough wrenches into the damn thing to put it all just a little off balance. Sanford's lyrics are a barrage of words that twist until meaning is marginal.

GAJOOB Magazine

pRick Sanford seems to be off in his own little world, and he's probably better off for it. Warped lyrics are found in abundance. Intentionally awkward, Sanford's songs set a relaxed atmosphere that is devoid of any pretensions. Just a regular guy singing in a stream of conscious fashion that reveals the world in which we all reside.
